Edgewater runs along the western edge of Lake Joondalup — Neil Hawkins Park, the Yellagonga wetlands, streets lined with paperbarks and tuarts. It’s one of the leafiest suburbs on our run, and the pools show it: constant leaf and bark fall, spring pollen slicks that turn a waterline yellow, and organic load that quietly feeds algae if the chemistry isn’t kept ahead of it.

And then there are the midges. Anyone who’s lived near the lake knows the swarms that come off Yellagonga on warm, still evenings. They end up on the pool surface in their thousands, clogging skimmers and breaking down in the water. It’s a genuinely local problem — and we plan for it, keeping filtration honest and sanitiser levels resilient right through midge season.

Edgewater’s pools are mostly established — built through the ’80s and ’90s with mature gardens grown up around them. Shade, organics, older equipment: it’s the exact opposite service job to a brand-new coastal estate, and it rewards a tech who knows the suburb. Ours does.
